Friends With Benefits

I was very pleasantly surprised with the hilarity of this movie. Having already seen No String Attached, I expected this to be the same thing but with better acting (I would choose Justin Timberlake over Ashton Kutcher for anything), but it was so much better than that.

Starting with the beginning, with surprise appearances from Andy Samberg (whom I love) and Emma Stone (with whom I was very pleasantly surprised), I was laughing more than I have at a movie I have seen in theatres in a very, very long time. The whole movie ended up exceeding my expectations, from the acting to the storyline and even to the music choices. I am and have always been a Justin Timberlake fan (ever since his N'SYNC days!) so I had high hopes for him, that he undoubtedly lived up to. I usually find Mila Kunis annoying and too girly, but she showed a different side of her that was more real and easier for me to relate to.

As for the story, I was never squirming out of discomfort at the cheesy lines or awkward cliches. I laughed at every single one of the jokes, which was basically every time Justin opened his mouth. I even almost shed a tear (which means nothing, really, since I cry at almost anything) at the reality of Justin's character's father's Alzheimer's (which might also be because they played I Will Follow You Into the Dark, which is one of my all time favorite songs because it's so beautiful, and fit beautifully into the scene.)

Basically, to be cliche, I laughed, I cried, and I walked out of the theatre wishing I could sit down and watch it again right that second. I haven't been this impressed with a recent movie in a very long time!
p.s. Justin Timberlake is so sexy, I can't even handle it... (i apologize...)

Summer

It is already August and I haven't written a word on this blog all summer! I am so embarrassed at the amount of time I spend scrolling through pictures and posts on Tumblr, causing me to neglect my blog! I miss writing, I miss reading other blogs, and I miss being able to look back at all of my old posts! (I can still do that, of course, but a year or so from now, I'll find that I had basically fallen off the face of the earth for the past year due to my extreme lack of posting.)
As I've been brainstorming about my college essay, I've discovered that my creative writing juices have been clogged by an increased intake in pictures. As much as I love to look at pretty pictures, and as inspiring as they can be, it seems I've gotten into a lazy funk, scrolling through pictures rather than words because it's just, simply, easier.
I've decided, though, to vow to write more. I love staying up late on a random night, letting my fingers graze the keyboard, spilling out stupid stories and underdeveloped characters. I can spend hours scrolling through pictures that I will never remember, pressing one simple button to put them on my blog, and as convenient that is, I feel as if I am becoming increasingly lazy, finding it easier to reblog someone else's post rather than post something myself. I've started to find my own pictures from Flickr pages I've discovered myself, but even that has become somewhat routine.
In short, I've found myself in simple routine that, from the outside, seems creative and educational, due to the photographers, websites, and cultures I have learned about through constantly reblogging, but it is time I spend less time being inspired from hundreds of other people, and start inspiring myself. Of course, I might never stop using tumblr, because the website makes it so easy to learn about things that I find most interesting, but I need to devote more time to my own blog, where I can search for myself, and write, and ponder, and comment on life rather than just look at it for a second or two and never really go beyond the surface.
This is the last year that I will be living in my house, seeing all of my friends every single day, knowing every single person in my class and my school, and have comfort in knowing that people know who I am. I need to start reaching out and relying more on myself rather than other people and things, because I'm leaving for college soon and I have no other choice but to grow up.

Yes I do remember, actually. I do remember when I was friends with her. I remember when I met her on the morning bus on the first day of school. I remember when I introduced myself to her and her sister, and we sat together for the rest of the year. I remember when we discovered that we had the same lunch period, and I invited her to sit with us, ignoring the objection from you and the others. I remember when we walked over to the table and I told her she could sit with us even though everyone else publicly objected. I remember when I sat down with her and everyone got up and left. I remember being alienated from my lunch table because I wanted her to sit with us. I could see the judgment in your eyes. She dresses differently. She obviously doesn't have as much money as us. She's not as good as us. I remember going to her house to get ready for the Christmas dance: doing our hair and makeup, and eating dinner with her parents. I remember having fun with her. I also remember growing apart. I remember myself avoiding her, slowly, throughout the year and the next one because I was self conscious. Regrets.
But, yes, I remember when I was friends with her. I don't remember when you were, though, sorry.
It's sad to say that although your tendencies are shown less, you have not changed at all.

Oliver walked briskly through the crowd, until he reached the sidewalk. Once out of the chaos, he was able to catch his breath and slow his pace. He adjusted the straps of his backpack and patted his pockets, obsessively making sure his wallet was still in its place. Ever since he lost his last wallet last week, which contained his food money and ID cards, he had been extra careful about keeping this one in his sight at all times.

As he turned the corner and moved further and further away from the crowd, his pace became slower and slower, and his posture became more relaxed. He walked until the sky turned from a bright blue to a light purple. When he reached the view of the lake, he stopped moving for a moment, took in a large breath of fresh air, and walked around to sit on a park bench facing the picturesque scenery. He pulled his backpack around onto his lap, pulled out his iPod, and set music to the landscape, watching as the waves and the trees seemed to dance to his music.

Natalie ran through the park, laughing loudly. Her hair was flying behind her, pushed back by the wind. She looked back towards the forest and noticed that no one was following her, but she could hear their laughter. She looked around quickly and saw a park bench facing the lake. She turned around again quickly just in time to see her friends coming out of the woods. She quickly turned around and jetted behind the park bench, looking for safety. She didn’t notice until then that the bench was occupied. The boy there looked startled as her briskness and laughter awoke him.

He shot her a confused look as she crouched by his legs. She put her finger to her lips, hoping to keep him quiet. He looked at her again and turned around just as three other girls sprinted by the bench, laughing. As they passed the bench, the girl let out a huge sigh and sat on the bench next to the boy.

“Thanks,” she said, gratefully.

He didn’t reply. He was too tired and lax to process what was occurring. Natalie stood up and sat on the bench next to the boy. He hadn’t put back in his headphones, and she wasn’t sure if he was going to talk to her or not. For what felt like an eternity, she sat on the opposite side of the bench, looking across to the lake.

Oliver sat in silence for a moment, formulating words in his head.

“So, uh, what were you doing?” he asked the girl after a few seconds.

She laughed at him without taking her eyes off of the scenery in front of her. “I’m a member of this group where we play extreme games. They’re basically just games we all played when we were kids, but we play without boundaries. This week it has been extreme tag!”

He honestly didn’t know how to reply. He had never heard of anything so ridiculous, but spontaneous in his life. “That sounds… interesting.”

“Oh, it is! One week we did extreme hide-and-seek, and I think my favorite so far has been extreme Ping-Pong.”

He could help but chuckle. “Extreme Ping-Pong?”

She laughed with him. “It’s great! It just like regular Ping-Pong except you’re allowed to hit it off the floor and walls and stuff. It’s actually quite a work out!”

Oliver just laughed. When he looked over at her, she was still looking ahead at the lake, giggling to herself.

“I’m Oliver, by the way,” he said.

She turned her head and her eyes met his. “Hello Oliver, I’m Natalie.” She stuck out her hand, and he took it in his, shaking it.

I don't know if this is finished. Or if I will ever finish it. But it was inspired by this, so here you go :)

Okay, so I OFFICIALLY have everything set for the one day of my teenage life where I can have almost everything EXACTLY the way I want it. Do I sound conceited? Yes. Do I care at this point? No. Because I'm about to have the best night ever :)
Anyway, rather than expressing my extreme excitement (which I can't even put into words, hence the poor explanation) I will dedicate this post to my SHOES.
Now, I am not usually a "shoe" girl (I have three pairs of shoes I wear every single day, and two of them are sneakers). At first, I wanted to go with a simple, nude pump to tone down my cobalt blue dress. I searched at TJ Maxx finding heels too high or sizes too big, before I came across what I thought were the perfect shoes at none other than my favorite store of all time: Target. I bought them for about 20 bucks, and they looked so perfect with my dress.
The second I put them on, though, my mom started telling me I needed to add "bling" to them to dress them up a bit. I kept telling her that my dress was so bright, I needed the shoes to tone them down a bit, but she eventually convinced me that I needed to add more to them.
After searching for inspiration here, I set out on an adventure to Joann's to search for ribbon and other pretty things. As I walked down the aisles, I came across a shelf with "headband accessories." My sight immediately went to the stack of peacock feathers. I showed them to my dad, laughing, remembering the twenties headband I tried on at the dress shop. I walked around aimlessly, leaving the feathers behind, searching for goodies. After a while, with nothing in my hand but blue ribbon, I came back to the feathers. I started to look closer at them and think of ideas. My dad and I agreed that the little blue in the feathers would match my dress perfectly, and after a quick call to my mom for advice, I was on my way home with two peacock feathered "headband accessories."
After some trial and error, I attached the accessory to my shoes and I fell in love.

Why must you act that way? Like the world revolves around you, like everything I say is wrong, like it is my mission in life to make you miserable. The world does not revolve around you. In case you don't remember anything from earth science, the world revolves around the sun. Last time I checked you are not the sun. The world will not revolve around you. People will not change their plans to fit around your needs. This night is not all about you. It is about us. It is about our entire class, about our friends, and the people we care about. Why don't you want to capture memories with all of our friends? Why must you complain about me to my best friend? Why is it such a big deal that I want to get as much done as possible?
I am sick of you. I am done dealing with you. I am sick of you complaining when others make a suggestion. I am sick of you blaming other people for something they didn't do. I'm sick of you expecting people to give you the work they worked hard on so that you can copy it. I'm sick of you thinking that you are the sun. You are not the sun; you are not even a star. You are an asteroid, creating craters in relationships and contentedness.

Friends Forever

Today in church, I sat behind two little old women who reminded me vaguely of you and me. They looked extremely elegant in their pea coats and light white hair. Their makeup was done perfectly, colorfully complementing their skin. They whispered to each other at appropriate times during mass and quietly giggled to each other. They acted like they had been friends forever; like sisters that looked nothing alike, except for their mutual smiles and the twinkle in their eyes. They laughed at the same things, and seemed to be able to read each other's minds. When they turned around and I wished them peace, I looked at them, quietly thinking of you, hoping that that would be us in 70 years. I hope that we still know each other in 70 years as we do now. I hope that we can still laugh and go to church together and be as close we were sophomore year.
Seeing them made me miss you. I miss talking to you everyday and going to church with you after volleyball. I miss us being able to read each other's minds. I miss talking to you about anything and everything and going to your house for a sleepover or downtown to eat crepes. I miss you.
I want us to be the little old ladies who go to church together with smiles on our faces and twinkles in our eyes.

I hate high school. I hate bratty, selfish, spoiled, immature people. I hate having to ride the bus home everyday and having to deal with stupid little 7th and 8th graders. I hate that I'm letting it bug me this much. I hate all the stuff I have to do and that I'm overwhelmed so I can't get anything done. I hate that my mom won't let me drive even though I've had my license for almost 2 months. I hate being so angry. I hate that I can't enjoy anything anymore. I hate being the friend that everyone forgets about. The one that is always left alone. I hate being a pessimist and hating everything. I hate SATs and SAT prep. I hate AP classes. I hate how my entire future relies on how successful I am in the next three months and how I haven't been doing my best because I'm so busy. I hate dealing with obnoxious people. I hate dealing with immature people. I hate dealing with everyone. I hate when people don't understand, and then I hate myself for expecting them to understand. I hate expecting so much from people. I hate not being inspired or even motivated to do anything. I hate how nothing works when I want it to. Ever. I hate that a girl in my school is pregnant, and a girl at my mom's school is pregnant and my aunt lost her babies.

I hate that I'm so sad all the time.

I hope you thought about what I said. I hope what I said meant something to you. I respect your decision and your motivation, but I don't want your presumed failure to motivate you. You will not fail; you cannot fail, and that I promise. To quote the cliche, you will never know until you try. Just try. Apply. Just do it. Listen to what I told you. You are not stupid. You are not a failure. You can make it. If they can, you can. You have something in you that sets you apart from the rest. You just have to find it. Please, just think about it, before you regret not taking the risk to prove it to yourself.

Hello!
I FINALLY bought a NEW laptop that actually has WiFi and actually loads faster than a turtle and clicks where and when I want it to. I haven't been the best blogger lately because I have been going through the hell that is midterm week, but the week is over, and I have lots to share. The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini

Before watching an old movie over the summer, I saw a preview for this book-turned-movie. I remember my mother and grandmother reading it and found it sitting on the bookshelf at my camp. I asked for my grandmother's permission and borrowed it from our camp, bringing it home and leaving it sitting on a table in my room for a few months. After a few months passed and I finished reading the current book for English class, I was looking for a good book and re-stumbled upon this. I picked it up and immediately couldn't put it down. I found myself taking this book out of my backpack during the school day, and staying up later than I should have, not being able to pull myself away. The setting immediately intrigued me, as I am one to search for knowledge of other cultures. What I did not expect, though, was how much I could relate to the characters. Although the tragedy of the story is more horrific than anything I could ever live through, the feelings of guilt, sorrow, and Amir's ability to eventually absolve his heavy self-inflicted burdens reminded me of my past and inspired me for my future.
I immediately became attached to every single one of the characters. Most books I have read have an easily lovable character and an easily hateable one, though as I learned about the regretful pasts of many of the characters, I could not help but to love them even more.
The growth and actions of the characters really made me think about my own life and how I've been living. I don't want to give away the ending, so I will keep it vague, but it truly inspired me. The way Amir acted at the end of the story, though he lived his whole life with the guilt of many important parts of his and his father's life, he acted with courage and ultimate strength.
When I make decisions now, and sometimes even randomly during the day, I think of this book and of Amir, Hassan, and Baba. It makes me think of how much your decisions can affect another person's entire life and how much courage counts. Courage, strength, and redemption: three very important things in life that this book taught me to always think about. Courage, for being able to strive for what you want; strength, to be able to persevere; and redemption, knowing that as long as you have the courage and strength to strive and persevere, you will be forgiven, in some way, shape, or form.

Merry Christmas!
I hope everyone's holiday was fantastic! I had a great day. I woke up at about 8:30, finished knitting my sister's scarf, wrapped it and went downstairs.
After waking up my father, my sister and I went downstairs to open our stockings and presents. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of gifts I received, due to the fact that I told my parents I truly did not want anything (I've been saving up for a Mac Book.)
In all, we finished opening our presents and drove down to my grandparent's house. We hung out, ate snacks, read an article on my great-grandfather's grocery store, and ate a delicious dinner. I know it sounds cliche, but I really love this time of year solely because I get to see my family. We have Christmas parties at my mother's dad and stepmother's house and her mother and stepfather's house. Christmas day, we open presents, eat a delicious egg dish, and then visit my dad's parents. It is wonderful.
After the joy of Christmas, I can only count down the hours until New Year's (my favorite holiday) because all of my cousin's from my dad's side come up to my grandparent's house. We all shop, lunch, dine, catch up on all that we've missed from each other (since we only see each other during this time and maybe once over the summer.) It is a wonderful, happy time and I never ever want it to end

A few weeks ago, I learned, from an article in the New York Times, of a website designed for young writers. I immediately typed www.figment.com into my browser and signed up.
Posting in the forums and reading the stories has given me back my inspiration and motivation to write. It was two years ago this vacation that I started my first novel, and have since finished the story line, but have yet to edit and improve it. I still haven't even looked at it since this vacation started, but have started two other stories since starting my membership.
I have published on my page a short story I wrote, and a few poems that I had originally posted on here a year or so ago, but other than the short story, I have not published anything of much significance. I hope that by the end of this vacation I will have let myself publish on the internet something that I have let no other eyes read before. Because, after all, this is the year of taking chances. I have gone out of my comfort zone many times already since starting school, and I can't keep myself back now!

Renaissance

So, last night I was reading some of my old posts, looking back on my year. I smiled as I remembered the good times and sighed at the not so good times. All in all, I noticed how much I've neglected my blog. With over a year of posting and over 100 posts, I have changed a lot. And so have my posts. Though, I noticed that as this year progressed, my posts became shorter and more boring. I began to take away the actual substance of my posts and simply post pictures with random little thoughts, or no thoughts at all. I realized that I had forgotten why I started my blog in the first place- to have a place to express my feeling to anyone who would listen, and to hopefully inspire people like other blogs have inspired me.
In addition, I have recently noticed that my entire Bloglovin' feed consists of pictures. My thoughts were further proven when I decided to download Picasa and realized that I have over 13,000 pictures saved onto my laptop. Not only is that awful for my harddrive, but my obsession with pictures and neglect of words caused my blog to become a screen, rather than a person. With my increase in reading blogs with simply pictures, my own blog morphed into the thousands of others that just reblog every new outfit trend and editorial. I forgot about my personality.
The way I've been treating my blog can also be paralleled to my current state of living. As I've gotten older, I've had a lot more responsibilities. Since getting my first job in April, my childhood has been quickly swirling down the drain. With my entrance into my junior year of high school, I have seemed to lose sense of who I actually am. Granted, many amazing things that I will hold with me for the rest of my life will stay with me, but I have seemed to lose those good things in all the stress of my life. All the pressure.
I started this blog to vent about my life and to share my thoughts. As my responsibilities grew, my creativity shrank. As the school work was piled on, my stories became pushed to the side. I always feel like I have to do things to please other people: my teachers, my coach, my parents, my friends, and I lose myself.
As I looked through my posts from the year, I noticed the loss of myself. The posts became shorter with less words, and my personality dwindled. There was no substance, nothing to separate me from the rest. I was just there, barely hanging on, with nothing to hold me back from falling over the edge.
That is why I believe I need to have a blog Renaissance. I will not create a new blog to start over, because I don't want to start over. I want to grow. I want to remember how I used to be, how the words rolled out of my brain into my fingers and onto a keyboard or a sheet of paper. I want to change, but I don't want to forget. I can not forget because if I forget how I feel, I will forget how to save myself from slipping off the edge.

What is your purpose in life?

I am only sixteen years old. I have no idea what I'm supposed to do in life; I barely know what I want to do. Through my experiences, I've learned things that inspire me, things that have helped me, things that have hurt me, and others.
One three-day-long experience that I think of everyday is a leadership seminar called HOBY. In my life as my "pre-HOBY" self, I knew right from wrong, I had done some community service, valued my family and friends, and knew exactly what I wanted to do in life to make sure that I was happy. During HOBY, though, I learned to open my eyes, mind, and heart. I was taught not only to do community service, but how to. I was given so many opportunities to make other people smile, whether it was delivering gifts to the elderly at a nursing home, or cheering extra loud to show your appreciation for someone. My groups that I spent the whole three days with became my family. After the last meeting, my dad walked with me back to my dorm as tears rolled down my face because of the realization that I would not see my HOBY family the next morning and that the best weekend of my life was ending.
I cried all the way home and again when I got home, knowing that it was over. These intense emotions, though, inspired me. I stopped stressing out about school and remembered how great I felt by making other people smile. I signed the HOBY commitment to doing 100 hours of community service by the next seminar, not because I had to, but because I wanted to.
I think my "pre-HOBY" self would answer the proposed question with something along the lines of "write for a fashion magazine," or "become a mom," but now I look at the question and actually think about it. What is the thing I want to accomplish most? My answer: I want everyone to feel at some point in their lives the way I felt that weekend. I want to be someone's cheerleader (another thing I learned at HOBY: you can't be sad when cheering as loud as possible!). I want to help someone remember love and happiness who has lost those feelings along the way.
So what is my purpose in life? I don't know exactly, but what I do know is that every time I see a glow stick, meet someone named Bob, eat a burrito, or hear "Don't Stop Believing," I will be reminded of my commitment and desire to make other people feel true happiness.

This was the end. Not the beginning or even the beginning of the end, but the end. This was the end of the end. This was the end of a life, the end of a body, of a mind, a heart. This was the end, and Jenna knew it. She knew it well. Too well, even. Jenna knew too much. She knew too much sadness, too much heartache, too much anger. She was so informed about these that it became dangerous. It became unhealthy. It was unhealthy for her to be so sad, to be so familiar with heartache, to be able to hold so much anger. But it was all going to end now. Right now.
It was very early Monday morning. Her house was so quiet that every move she made, with every squeak of her bed, she feared waking her parents, her brother, or even her dog. Her house was so dark that she could barely see her hands resting lightly in her lap, or even the small plastic baggie she was moving between her fingers and thumb. She closed her eyes, completely blinding herself. All she could think about, all that she could see on the back of her eyelids was the end. Not the beginning of the end, but the end of the end. She was finally ready to end this.

yesterday, i went to the see The Last Song with Courtney and Amanda.

As much as I really do not like Miley Cyrus, I was really looking forward to seeing this movie, because although Dear John was a bit of a disappointment, The Notebook and A Walk to Remember are two of my favorite movies. Once I got over Miley's too-pouty lips and unconvincing acting, I actually enjoyed the movie. And unlike my Dear John experience, I don't regret paying $10 to see it in theaters. Although, I will not see it in theaters again, it will definitely be a movie I will rent (or maybe buy?) when it comes out on DVD.

I barely recognized Miley on the cover of the newest issue of Teen Vogue, and to be honest I was very disappointed since she really hasn't convinced me as being a serious actress. And to top it all off, I've already read a few articles on her from other magazines and she's just rather annoying. Although I haven't actually read the article yet, I flipped through the pictures and I have to admit- they're adorable:

The First Night of February Vacation

I came home from a stressful week and decided to kick it old school and plugged in my old VHS player and watched Free Willy.
I love watching movies from my childhood for the following reasons:
1. I love watching the previews and remembering the time when that movie was out in theaters yet... and only said "coming soon to VHS" instead of "DVD and blue-ray" or even "DVD and VHS"
2. Movie mean something different when you're 16 than the when you saw it when you were 6. I can now appreciate the lesson being taught, and I can understand better the feelings of the characters.
3. It brings me back to a time when everything was happy and nothing was ever stressful. everyone was nice and I didn't have to worry about almost failing chemistry and doing all of my global homework. It gives me some innocence and reminds me that there was a time and there will be a time when this will all blow over and i will be happier again.

Sadly, I can't find A Bug's Life,
but I think tonight's movie will be Toy Story.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas

Never in my life have I cried so hard from a movie.

This was, to be honest, the most emotional movie I have ever seen.
The boy is so naive and has so much hope and faith that it is heartbreaking.
The characters affected me so intensely that I physically hurt after watching this.
The Holocaust is my favorite time period to learn about. I have read tons and tons of books on it and watched many movies about it. Though, prior to seeing this movie, I had never seen a movie or read a book that was so emotional and hit me so hard. It really showed the innocence of children and how their childhood was so much affected by what was going on in the country, even if they didn't fully understand it.
I highly recommend this movie. Highly.

Today our school was told that one of our teacher's died. He was my fifth and sixth grade teacher, and the varsity football coach. When I first heard, I was in shock, basically yelling "WHAT?" The whole day was rather sad.
It was not until I got home that it actually sank in. Even though I hadn't seen or talked to him in a few years, he had an impact on my life, since my 5th and 6th grade years were so much about learning about the world around me.
It's just weird to think that he's gone; that I'll never see him again.
I guess I just don't really realize sometimes.
I really don't even know what I'm saying, I just need to say something.

I feel as if I should write about my year, about how great/good/okay/bad/sad/happy/exciting/boring it was, but I really, truly, honestly don't know what to say.

Then I thought, maybe I should write about all I want to do in 2010, all my aspirations and resolutions, but to be honest, I don't have a plan. I find it hilarious, actually. For all of the organizing I do, for all the sticky notes hanging around my room reminding me of stuff, and the multiple calendars and planners I have, I don't really have a plan for my future. I have a great plan for the present, but not so much for a month from now, or even a week from now. I don't like making new year's resolutions, because I don't complete them, anyway. I can give myself a year to be like, "Hey, I want to lose 10 pounds," or, "Maybe this year I'll keep my room cleaner" because I've accepted the fact that that's not going to happen. I'm a procrastinator. I've accepted this fact. So rather than try to remember every single little thing that happened in the year of 2009, I think of everything that's happened in my life. Meeting my friends, the best summers of my life, Christmases and ski weekends. I have a list of goals I want to accomplish before I die, but I have a lot of time (hopefully) to do that. So right now: no, I don't have any New Year's Resolutions, but yes, I have a promise with myself to make this year worth it so much that on December 31, 2010 I can think of my life and remember something from this year that changed my life.

What inspires you to live happily? from fell in the nettles.
I don't think that i have any specific 'inspirations' that keep me happy, i think its just more my mindset. I wake up every morning and say 'this is going to be a good day.' But, of course, some things go bad sometimes, and when that happens, i take out a poetry book, or turn on my 'feel better' playlist and get lost in lyrics and words until i forget why that one bad thing that happened to 'ruin' my day and why i made it so big and actually let it ruin my day. I also love looking at pictures on weheartit, or deviantart at beautiful pictures of happy people, or i look in magazines and look at all the smiling faces, and rather than thinking 'i wish i could be that skinny...' i think about how much more beautiful people are when they have a smile on their face, than when they're stick thin but pouty.

What do you usually do on a lazy Sunday afternoon???? from agnes.
Hm, well, on sunday afternoons, either 'lazy' or not, i be lazy. Sundays are my family/relaxation days, so basically all i do is go to church in the morning, then come home and cozy up and read a book. And now that its warmer outside i can sit outside and read and work on my non-existant tan! but other than that, i get organized, maybe clean up my room a little, get ready for the week ahead, that sort of stuff. I lead such an exiting life... haha.

That is such a hard question... but I think I would have to say the movie A Walk to Remember. Why? Because one summer after my cousin and I watched it, we decided to make a list of things we want to accomplish before we die, and it has helped me to become more outgoing and able to try new things. I, also, recently read the book The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, and it was a true inspiration to follow my dreams. Also, I read a small article written by her in Glamour magazine, and it is so wonderful, I have it taped on my full-length mirror hanging on my door so I see it every time I look at myself, and everytime I leave my room. Remind me to share it with you sometime- Jeannette Walls is truly fantastic. In addition, the song "You're Making it All Come Alive" by My Favorite Highway has provided me with optimistic and inspirational words that I have written in my room so I can see it everyday.

i went walking around the neighborhood with Lisa the other day. It was wonderful! The sun was shining so bright and the flowers in everyone's gardens were beautiful!

i saw this adorable little note in someone's driveway and just HAD to take a photo!

Sunday morning mass

I woke up this morning at 7:15, like usual, immediately wishing that my body would let me sleep in just once. I went downstairs and watched a bit of Bring It On, and ate a mini bagel my mother made yesterday. Then, i went back upstairs to my room and decided to catch up on GG&S.

Yes! I finally finished part II. I was taking notes on index cards for the questions proposed when my mom knocked on my door.
"Do you want to go to church with me?"
I really didn't feel like getting up, getting in the shower, or even getting dressed, but it was church, i really should go. I'm glad i went. I didn't really understand the readings today, or the homely, but after church was a time that i always enjoy.
My mother is a teacher so she knows mostly everyone. One day, she introduced me to "the informal mayor of [town where she teaches.]" Almost two years ago now, she introduced me to the nicest, sweetest, funniest, and most loving couple I have ever seen. (With the exception to my grandparents on my father's side who just celebrated their FIFTY-SECOND anniversary!) Rosemary is a sweet, stylish old woman that you would NEVER guess went horseback riding on the beach for her 80th birthday. And Frank, whose six months younger than her, is still all-that. He is always dressed to the nines, especially today, with his "50 year old jacket that is loose on [him] now because [he] used to be fat!" He has a great sense of humor, and the energy of a 30 year old. I always enjoy chatting with them after church because they always have the best stories to tell. They looked gorgeous today and i wish i had my camera with me, but sadly, i didn't even think to bring my camera to CHURCH! (Although even during mass, i wish i did because the flower display was colorful and amazingly beautiful!)
To give you the smallest idea of how amazing and stylish Frank and Rosemary are, i found this picture of a different couple, but the energy the couple in the photo is giving off is the same as Frank and Rosemary's lovely personalities.

I was slugging out on the couch, watching something completely unrememberable when I heard my favorite song start playing on a commercial... WHAT!? i heard myself yell at the television. REALLY!? i opened my eyes wide, and my ears wider for the next 30 seconds as my favorite song played before me. Surprising? most likely. Who knew my favorite INDIE band from ENGLAND would be playing on an american beer commercial. But now, whenever a show fades away, and a pointless commercial appears on the screen, i hope that i can be lucky enough to hear Luke Pritchard's lovely voice surprising me from inside the telly.

FIRST WEEK OF VOLLEYBALL DOWN.
and it was a lot of fun.
although i am now incredibly sore, tired, and always hungry, i have to say it was a blast.
i really like almost everyone on my team, and i can tell this season is going to be amazing :D
i, myself, have improved so much, and i can feel it. I'm so much more confident on the court and even with my teammates.
although the conditioning has been killer and i've been basically limping around everywhere and avoiding stairs and cars as much as possible (its very hard, but they're very painful!) i have been having the time of my life. i almost forgot how much i missed slapping a volleyball to the ground (:

our first scrimmage is on wednesday and we get our jerseys before then. SOOOO EXCITED :D

but volleyball means school and i am SOOOO not ready for that!
(i still have to finish my summer reading books for ap global and english... oh dear...)

Two weeks in the middle of nowhere with only my family, some new friends, and books to get me through the lack of connection with "the outside world" (it's really not that bad living without internet/phone/tv. i can go 2 weeks or maybe a month at most, but no longer..)

my two tie dye shirts. my cousin, sister and i had to use Rit from the nearby hardware store to tie dye, and it was a disaster! all of our first shirts came out well, but then the dyes got all messed up and the rest of our shirts ended up looking like barf. not to mention that SOMEHOW the dye got EVERYWHERE. on the floors, on the table, in clothes that WE DIDN'T EVEN WEAR TO TIE DYE IN! we mixed the powder inside, so we thought maybe it was airborne or something because there was red everywhere. we got it out of the floors and the table and sink and counters, but not most of our clothes. it was an incredible disaster... hahha.

random photography. we have millions of golfballs lying around because when my uncle goes running at his home, he finds buckets and buckets of them and just picks them up and brings them to camp since the "guys" (my uncles and grandfather) go golfing almost every morning. up here. hahah.

i'm home. FINALLY :D
i've been so busy, too.
i was at camp, as you know, for two whole weeks, then the day after we got back, i had my aunt's wedding and then the next day, volleyball started! so. today is tuesday, obvs, and i need to tell you about everything so once i get my crap together, and ice my incredibly sore left calf and right quad, be ready for posts to come (:

p.s. i also went shopping yesterday and worked on my fashion book all two weeks long.
ah! i just have SO much to say...!

pandora.com is my new addiction. you just put in a song or artist that you like, and it plays songs for you from songs and artists similar. its a fantastic way to find new music, and it like the radio... but without commercials. oh, well, there is one commercial about every 25 songs. and its like 3 seconds long, haha. you should deff try it out though, its great (:

My sister informed me recently that she wants to dress better and more fashionably. (though 'fashionably' in her mind is different than the high fashion and runway i immediately think of when i hear the word 'fashion') in anyway, i lent her a bunch of my old 17 magazines to look through and pick out outfits that she likes. she did, and i cut them out and am making a little composition notebook full of "Megan's Fashion Inspirations." It's quite lovely, I have to say. Here are a few photos of hers, though I have added many since the photos were taken. They'll be updated, and once I photograph my book, I'll add show you those, too (:

Dear Friends,

Kenzy, I saw what you were writing to Becca on facebook. about how you should go shopping together because you havent seen eachother in a while...
i havent seen any of you basically all summer. i'll admit that i've been busy, but, well, i've kept in touch through fb and texting and stuff...
but i just want to be invited to stuff. nobody ever invites me to anything. i know i sound so immature, but i just feel so left out. like all the time. because anytime i see you guys its either in school, or because I planned something. sometimes i just want to be the one that's invited to go shopping, or to the movies.
i'm excited for the party that i'm throwing tuesday night, so i can see you guys, but again, it's something that i've planned. sometimes i wonder why i put in all the effort of being friends with people who obviously never want to hang out with me.
sometimes i just wonder what i do wrong to make you never want to hang out with me.

Yesterday was the most fantastic day I've had in so, so long. It was definitely one of the best days of summer (:
my mother had to tutor in the morning, then she had a doctor's appointment so my sister and I went over to my grandparents house to swim and such. When we've been going over there, usually I just hang out and read and then jump in if I get really warm, but Megan and I ended up swimming for four hours straight! It was loads of fun(: first, we [attempted] to take fun pictures of us jumping off the dock.

After we failed with that, we went all old school and played games that we hadn't played in years! First, we did some 'water gymnastics' and made up fun routines of flips and twirls and handstands and backflips etc, etc. I haven't done that in SO long! Then, we got this giant tube out and just swam, and paddled on the tube, and counted how many seconds we could stand and stay balanced on it. It was just loads of fun (:
besideds the sunburn i recieved (ow!) yesterday was a fantastic day. words just cannot begin to explain.

After we got home from my grandparents house and my father came home from work, we went to meet his cousins that are visiting up here from across the country. we went over there a few days ago for dinner a few days ago and it was fun, although a bit awkward because we had, really, just met everyone for the first time. I played with the little girls though, and they are so adorable (:
so yesterday, we went over again for dinner and had a blast. when we first got there, I entertained the younger girls again. Then, we had dinner which was hilarious! The youngest girl was talking about how she had a baby in her hip named Charlotte (we have NO idea where she got that name from!) and a baby boy in her other hip named Braces Umbrella. Very interesting... she was just adorable! After dinner, the older kids put on our bathing suits and went down to the lake. I guess earlier that day, John, Joe, and Katie found an orange... and named it Kyle. They also tied rubber bands and a string around it and attached it to a rock at the bottom of the lake... hahaa. After jumping off the roof into the water a few times, we went and rescued Kyle. We took him back up to the deck over the boat house and jumped off with him. It was hilarious! We also tried taking pictures jumping off the roof, but that didn't work out too well since there were five of us and jumping backwards (so that we were facing the camera) was a bit scary! Anywho, we threw Kyle, then we jumped in to save him and so on. It was a blast! But finally, when my parents called us to go home, we threw our little friends out into the lake to have a nice little vacation... hahhaa.
We got out and as our parents talked on the driveway, we made up stories about Kyle, and I honestly had a blast! They are so funny! So now, we have code names and everything. It's hilarious. I'm so glad we went!
